VOLUNTEERING WITH THE THEATRE DEPARTMENT
You are already doing SO MUCH. As a parent of an actor or tech specialist, you are already facilitating all of the work we are doing. You are helping by making sure your child attends practices and giving them rides from afterschool. You're listening to them practice that same song … again. You are reading through scripts and helping as your actor practices and memorizes lines. You're on the first line of defense when it comes to wardrobe malfunctions and stage fright. You're the shoulder they cry on when they struggle and you're the one giving them flowers when they succeed on an opening night. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING TO SUPPORT THIS DEPARTMENT! You are already helping in tangible ways and the students couldn't do any of this work without your wonderful care and support. Volunteering is not a parent requirement. We know you are busy, need to set boundaries, and can only help so much. The show must go on, and we do depend upon parent support, so this page will highlight the extra ways (big and small) that you can help to grease the wheels of this well oiled machine. Volunteering builds community and strengthens the program for all of the students We appreciate you and we thank you for being willing to volunteer in the ways you are able. We are always looking for businesses to place ads in our Playbill brochures or to become SEASON SPONSORS! If you’re interested, please contact Todd Wielar at [email protected].

Ways You Can Help
DONATE SNACKS FOR PRACTICE
PROVIDE DINNER FOR ACTORS
DONUTS FOR IMPROV FRIDAY MORNINGS
DONATE TO SUPPORT ACTORS WITH FEWER RESOURCES
- By the time the students are in afterschool at practice, they are hungry. Donations of granola bars, individual chips, water bottles and other afterschool snacks are very appreciated. Snacks can be dropped directly at the black box, or sent in with your student to deliver to Mr. Becker. Email [email protected] with any questions.
PROVIDE DINNER FOR ACTORS
- From time to time we will request parents to provide a dinner to actors and crew as they prepare for big performances. This will happen during Tech weeks just prior to major performances.
DONUTS FOR IMPROV FRIDAY MORNINGS
- Improv is a group that meets every Friday morning at 8:00 AM before school in the Black Box Theatre. The kids really look forward to donuts for breakfast at these meetings. Please consider sending donuts in with your improv actor on any Friday morning.
DONATE TO SUPPORT ACTORS WITH FEWER RESOURCES
- ALL students, regardless of their income and resources are welcome to participate in ALL of the activities and productions that we put on at CHS. You may not have time to volunteer, but have money to help other students. DONATE HERE to "bring a friend". The funds donated will be used to provide scholarships to lower income students participating in MTE and VHSL. Email [email protected] with any questions.
